About

Brian is a formally trained and certified gunsmith and an NRA certified firearms instructor. Brian grew up in Newburg, WV and learned marksmanship from his father and Uncle Paul. Brian turned a passion for better accuracy into mentoring new shooters and then into this business.

External Ballistics LLC started in the Spiker home. In 2021, the Spikers built a workshop and classroom on the same property where Brian began offering gunsmith services.

Susie grew up on a farm in Bruceton Mills, WV. Susie learned marksmanship from her entire family that all enjoy hunting but was especially mentored by her brothers, Tommy and Brian. Susie is a veteran of the US Navy where she earned a Sharpshooter Pistol ribbon and Expert Rifleman medal. Susie also competes in IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) matches. The Spiker family includes two German Shorthaired Pointers driving a new obsession with shotgunning and upland game.

Brian and Susie shared their life in the outdoors with their son, Bear. Despite a conservative approach to sharing images and information about Bear online, Susie and Brian are elated that Bear is interested in the outdoors and the business.
